NEDERLANDS KUSTPAD PART 1, LAW 5-1

Nederlands Kustpad Deel 1, LAW 5-1, is a scenic and remarkable 288 km route starting in Sluis and ending in Hoek van Holland. This route is designed to be completed in 15 days (when you take all extra routes in consideration), offers an elevation gain of 570 meters and guides you through the stunning landscapes of the Dutch coastline.

Impressive landscapes

The trail is divided into manageable stages, each showcasing a unique aspect of the region’s beauty. You’ll wander along beaches, traverse rolling dunes, pass through lush fields, and marvel at the impressive waterworks that characterize the Netherlands.

Zeeland

Starting from the historic town of Sluis, you head towards Cadzand-Bad, where you can enjoy the tranquility of the Zeeuws-Vlaanderen region. As you continue, the path takes you to the charming seaside villages of Zoutelande and Domburg, providing picturesque views of the Zeeland Riviera. One of the highlights is the section through the Manteling forest, a protective buffer against the North Sea winds, leading you to the engineering marvel of the Oosterscheldekering.

 

The trail then meanders through the largest forest in Zeeland, near Burgh Haamstede, before reaching the holiday resort of Renesse. You’ll cross the iconic Brouwersdam, pass by the flower-rich Preekhilpolder, and venture through the historic town of Brielle, which exudes an old-world charm.

Hoek van Holland

The route culminates in Hoek van Holland, offering views of the vast Rotterdam harbor and the serene Nieuwe Waterweg. This hike not only provides a physical challenge but also immerses you in the cultural and natural heritage of the Dutch coastline, making it a truly enriching experience.
